Hotel Albergo Alpino is a historic hotel and a landmark for vacations on Lake Como, serving as the perfect starting point for excursions and ski resorts in Valsassina.
Our history
Albergo Ristorante Alpino was established in 1856, originally as a private family home and later transformed into a tavern. Initially, the hotel was called Antica Osteria Luiset (the old name of the family); at the tavern, travelers were served meals at a large communal table placed at the entrance, and they had the opportunity to spend the night in the horse stall behind the tavern.
Becoming a true hotel in the early 1900s, it began hosting guests from all over Italy, as testified by the old registers, which are still preserved by us. Under the management of Grandparents Luigi and Margherita, the hotel became a landmark for merchants and tourists of the valley. With their daughters Clara, Antonella, and son-in-law Lorenzo, significant changes took place, introducing all the modern comforts required by a hotel.
The baton was then passed to Ester, Beatrice, Luigi, and Loredana, the fourth generation, who with passion and dedication continue the work that has been at the heart of the Luiset family for over a hundred years.
The electric light…
Not many are aware of the great creative ingenuity of the Acerboni family in the field of mechanics. Together with the Sanelli family of Premana, the Luiseta family brought electricity to Alta Valsassina and Premana, which was vital at the time to increase the production of knives and illuminate our villages. Until the early 2000s, the SEA (Società Elettrica Acerboni) power plant was still operating in Casargo, producing electricity for the town of Casargo.
The hydroelectric plant, with 2 Pelton turbines, provided a constant supply of electricity throughout the year by utilizing the water from Valdacorda.
